ICP offers two One-Year Certificate Programs: one in General Studies and one in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism. These programs provide advanced students with an intensive yearlong course of study that strengthens personal vision, teaches professional practices, and explores the many disciplines that inform media and art today.

General Studies in Photography
Chairperson: Marina Berio
The General Studies in Photography program embraces the study of photographic practices, including fine art, editorial, documentary, and experimental image production. With an emphasis on expanding vision and building a foundation for individual practice, the program explores the history of photography, contemporary theory, craft and technique, and personal image making. The foundation seminar considers the questions that arise from the cultural, political, economic, and psychological uses of images. Visiting artists, critiques, and discussions of contemporary ideas and artwork help extend the possibilities of self-expression while defining professional and artistic working methods.

Documentary Photography and Photojournalism
Chairperson: Alison Morley
The Documentary Photography and Photojournalism program provides students with the investigative skills and technical knowledge necessary to succeed in the complex and constantly changing world of visual journalism. With ICP's long-standing commitment to documentary practice, this program engages faculty who are among the foremost practitioners in the photographic field. The curriculum is student-centered, focusing on class discussions and critiques in a supportive learning atmosphere. Students learn new media, professional practices and methodologies, as well as political, ethical, and social concerns.

Information sessions
Held every Friday at 3pm. No RSVP required.
