What do the two MFA Programs at CCNY offer? New competitive partial tuition fellowships for first- and second-year national and international students in all art programs –Active dialogue among the programs, students, and faculty –Full schedule of lectures and visiting artist studio visits –Collaborative and individual studio space –Faculty comprised of nationally and internationally recognized artists and scholars –Collaborations with NYC art institutions –Teaching opportunities –Individual attention, small class sizes –Historic campus with Neo-Gothic architecture in Manhattan The Digital and Interdisciplinary Art Practice (DIAP) MFA is a research-oriented program in which students individually or collaboratively explore aspects related to digital media art including but not limited to Narrative and Non-Narrative Time-Based Art, Sound Art, Digital Cultures, Interactivity, Performance, Queer Media, Cyber Gender, Digital Activism, Spatial Mapping and Hybrids. It is designed to be adaptive to the current environment of continually changing technology, while critically approaching the relationship between technology and tools in contemporary art practice. DIAP promotes engagement with other disciplines in the humanities, arts, and sciences, moving beyond the traditional studio environment to stimulate scholarly research and create an intellectual community of artists interested in cross-disciplinary practice. DIAP students work in a large shared studio/lab and have access to a multitude of equipment in addition to the new laptop every DIAP student receives at program start. The MFA in Studio Art is a two-year, sixty-credit program comprised of a close-knit community of exceptional students, working with committed faculty with expertise in a wide range of mediums and approaches to art-making. Students working across disciplines have their own studio spaces at CCNY in Manhattan. The first year is spent on work emphasizing experimentation and growth, and the last year focusing those experimentations into a solo thesis exhibition mounted in the Art Department's gallery.  Additional MA Programs in the Art Department with deadlines later in spring 2014 The MA in Art Education with or without certification prepares students to work as reflective artist-educators who teach in multiple settings, including schools, community centers, museums, and alternative learning sites. The MA in Art History with or without the Museum Studies concentration is a thirty-credit program that offers an array of courses with a focus on Global Modernisms and complements and draws on New York's dynamic arts culture. The MFA programs at The City College of New York, CUNY offer distinguished choices for students interested in pursuing careers in the arts.
