Applications are now open for the Master of Creative Technologies (MCT) programme at Auckland University of Technology. The MCT is a full-time, 18-month interdisciplinary research programme that supports students realising projects that cross traditional academic boundaries. The studio-based thesis model embraces all the benefits of traditional art and design programmes, but is enhanced by a semester of taught papers in which students select from a range of cross-disciplinary options covering content such as gaming, entrepreneurship, materials design, visualisation, installation and performance. Taught by lecturers with professional backgrounds in areas including art, design, performance, computer science, animation, game design, engineering, mechatronics, architecture, business, and organisational development, students are surrounded with a range of high-level expertise that more traditional programmes can't provide.

As an MCT thesis student supported by a supervisory team, you'll undertake a sustained period of research within a defined creative technologies sector. You will develop as a creative practitioner with an advanced understanding of the roles and potential of creative technologies. You'll be able to collaborate and communicate effectively across a broad range of artistic, technological, commercial and cultural fields.

For the 2016 intake, applicants located in the area of smart materials design, performance capture, or immersive realities are encouraged.

Find out more about the MCT programme structure here.
