To re-actualize a discourse, which is philosophical in its nature and formation, does not mean to negate it, but rather to contextualize and connect it to a specific practice, in this case an artistic one. In order to develop an exhibition closely linked to its host city, the curators and artists, during the research stage, focused on the work of art historian Lara-Vinca Masini, and in particular on her exhibition organized and inaugurated in Florence on September 20, 1980, entitled Umanesimo, Disumanesimo nell'Arte Europea 1890/1980. After thirty-three years, seen the total absence of visual documentation of the event apart it's official catalogue, the exhibition concept proposed by the curators, derives from this lack and interacts with it, inserting itself in the perspective of the possible reactions and relationships advocated by Lara-Vinca Masini. The issues arising from this reasoning are present in the reflections of the seventeen young artists in the exhibition. Their works deal with themes like: the surpassing of the centrality of the individual man within the cultural terrain, here transposed in the territory of the inhabited space. The aesthetic hierarchies and rational control of man over his manifestations are subverted and canceled in favor of the creation and reconstruction of new imaginaries and images, taking advantage of such tools as memory and decoding of constituted languages.
