The Post-Baccalaureate program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA) is an intensive, comprehensive year of studio art study and practice for recent college grads, professionals coming from another area of focus, or practicing artists wishing to expand their ongoing studio work. SMFA's program offers a diverse international community of students, combined with personalized coursework, extensive faculty mentorship, and a collaborative environment of artists from a variety of disciplines.
Post-Baccalaureate students design their own path of study during this one-year program. Through research, group critiques, sustained critical inquiry, and peer collaborations, artists are encouraged to develop their skills and experiment across media. A core part of the program is the weekly Post-Bac seminar, which includes discussions on critical theory and contemporary topics, visiting artist lectures, field trips, and conversations with museum curators, gallerists, critics, and collectors. Through a variety of exhibition opportunities, students also learn curatorial and professional skills required for contemporary career in the art world. Our Post-Bac graduates leave with a critical awareness of contemporary art and practice, and a deeper understanding of their educational and professional goals.
Apply here.
Post-Bac students are eligible for a SMFA Merit Scholarship. We are now accepting applications for the fall 2014 term. Apply online or contact us for more information: T +1 800 643 6078 / admissions@smfa.edu.
