ARCUS Research is a self-directed residency program offering uninterrupted time and a contemplative environment for creative experimentation, in-depth fieldwork, and research. The program welcomes not only artists but also curators, researchers, writers, and other practitioners in the cultural field to engage in creative discourses and activities. The Faculty of Art and Design was founded at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in November 1993. In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, the faculty is hosting a festival from 19–24 November 2013, with a variety of exhibitions, workshops and presentations. Serving as the spatial and social centre point of the event, a specially-installed salon will house artistically designed dinners, conversations and discussions, including with the renowned curator David Elliott.

A symposium concentrates on a contemporary notion of art and design in teaching and research. In the adjoining atelier, visitors will find exhibitions of different projects, including  the Architecture and Design prize adream, as well as a library with publications from the faculty.

The Faculty of Art and Design was established in 1993 with a founding board under Lucius Burckhardt and officially opened on 19 November 1993. It offers an integrated artistic and design project-based studies in the degree programmes of Fine Art, Product Design, and Visual Communication, which is known as the Weimar Model. About 650 students are registered in the faculty.
