Exceptional Ivy League education. Extraordinary fine arts training. Together in one program.

Since 1929, the coordinated Bachelor of Fine Arts program with the University of Pennsylvania has paired PAFA's renowned fine arts studio training with an Ivy League liberal arts education.

The program provides a unique opportunity for fine arts students to pursue their artistic passions as well as their intellectual interests. They receive the best studio training at PAFA, as well as rigorous liberal arts coursework at Penn, where they have access to hundreds of courses in more than 50 areas of study, taught throughout the School of Arts and Sciences and the College of Liberal and Professional Studies.

Students begin their studies at PAFA with an intensive first year program in which they learn skills by working in a variety of two- and three-dimensional methods of art making. As students progress through the curriculum they experiment and explore their own independent interests through the choice of one of five majors: PaintingDrawingPrintmakingSculpture, and Illustration.

In their final year, students are given a personal studio where they learn to develop an individual artistic practice. This year culminates in participation in the Annual Student Exhibition held in PAFA's museum.

The PAFA/Penn BFA requires students to complete 16 classes at Penn, including four in art history and 12 classes in any combination of liberal arts electives that deepen and broaden their engagement with ideas and practices most meaningful to them.

Visit pafa.edu/admissions for links to additional information on applying, deadlines, scholarships and financial aid, and scheduling a visit.
