The international MFA program is designed for artists with the ambition to develop and enrich their individual studio practice with cross-disciplinary investigations in a wide range of different fields of knowledge. This program will be of particular interest to international students who want to connect with any of the academy's focus areas investigating the intersections of art, architecture, and technology. The Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (KiT) is an institute of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Art at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). It operates both independently and within the University fields of study. This unique environment allows MFA students to expand the depth and complexity of their studio practice and to experiment with new approaches across different disciplines and technologies. The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program provides an intensive, two-year experience that focuses on artistic studio practice and development of individual artistic research in a pre-professional environment.  The program culminates in a thesis project presented in a group exhibition, which is carried out in close collaboration with Trondheim Kunstmuseum. The Academy of Fine Art is situated outside of the NTNU campus in a former factory building. It is well connected to a small but vibrant local art scene with artist-run galleries, exhibition halls, and museums.The academy offers each MFA student a studio space as well as access to collaborative workspaces and newly equipped workshops for wood, metal, plaster, printmaking, photo, video, sound and computer-based work. It is well-connected to a small but vibrant local art scene with artist-run galleries, exhibition halls, and museums. The MFA course program combines mentoring, studio visits, seminars, workshops and field trips and guest lectures. Students have the option of enrolling in a number of courses with a range of topics that include: Key concepts of art theory;Global aesthetics; Art and society; Art, Gender and Technology; Display, delay, motion; or Art and Common Space.  The curriculum is structured to expose students to diverse viewpoints and an array of professional practices that reflect contemporary issues and is in dialogue with a global community of artists and thinkers.  Current faculty includes Anne-Karin Furunes, Simon Harvey, Nancy Mauro-Flude, David Rych and Florian Schneider. Visiting artists and guest teachers at KiT in the past two years have included Matteo Pasquinelli, Koyo Kouoh, Jonas Jensen, Ann Cathrin Hertling, Boris Buden, Johan Zimsen Kristiansen, Michelle Teran, Inger Lise Hansen, Rike Frank, Bernhard Cella, Mari Rantanen, Edy Poppy, Cory Arcangel, Arianna Bove, Jordi Colomer, Bojana Cvejic, Erik Empson, Maaretta Jaukkuri, Geert Lovink, Mary Sherman, Dan Perjovschi, Mårten Spångberg, Walid Sadek, Sille Storihle, and Eyal Weizman, among many others. Teaching language of all courses is English.  International students who are not enrolled in a fellowship or scholarship program are welcome at NTNU, provided they have proof of sufficient funding to pay their living expenses. There is no tuition fee, including for students of non-EU nationalities. Applicants should hold a BFA degree or prove equivalent qualification based on an artistic portfolio.
