The MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths welcomes applications for the 2016/17 academic year.

The MFA Fine Art programme at Goldsmiths provides the perfect environment for emerging artists to develop professionally. The course will help you acquire a critical understanding of the creation and reception of contemporary art, and to engage directly with a wide range of professional and academic networks within the London art world.

The MFA Fine Art offers a supportive and professionally engaged environment in which to develop as an artist at the heart of the London art world. It is delivered through individual and group tutorials, lectures, seminars, workshops and reading groups. Students set their own objectives and goals for their MFA, with a view to developing a coherent and sustainable professional practice. They work with permanent staff as well as visiting artists and academics, many of which are selected by the students themselves.

Our student-centred approach to teaching helps students become professional artists who are independent, articulate, confident and self-motivated. The ethos is interdisciplinary, with artists working together across disciplines. The programme encourages you to engage with issues related to what it means to work as an artist today, and to reflect upon their practice in light of art's complex history and its role in wider social and cultural environment. Theory and practice are fully integrated, and we place a strong emphasis on discussion and peer-to peer-learning so you can develop your abilities to the fullest.

The MFA Fine Art inhabits a spacious studio complex in a converted Edwardian swimming bath at the center of the Goldsmiths campus. The Department has a full compliment of state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories, staffed by fully qualified technicians, to which all MFA students have access.

Permanent staff includes: John Chilver, Nick Crowe, Ros Gray, Andy Harper, David Mabb, Suhail Malik, Simon Martin, Sadie Murdoch, Michael Newman, Lindsay Seers, Ben Seymour, Kate Smith, Jemima Stehli and Milly Thompson.

Recent visiting staff: Ed Atkins, Nicolas Bourriaud, Bonnie Camplin, Simon Fujiwara, Antony Gormley, Isaac Julien, Janice Kerbel, Darian Leader, Mark Leckey, Renzo Martens, Laure Prouvost, Polly Staples, Dmitry Vilensky/Chto Delat and Ian Wallace.

Scholarships are available, please apply here.
