Our two-year Master's programmes offer preparation for careers or research and lead to the award of a Master's degree (120 credits). The programmes are led by Konstfack's professors and have both fixed directions and optional courses that offer you an opportunity to specialise and create your own programme that reflects your unique interests. CRAFT! The Master's programme CRAFT! is a collaboration between the three subjects Ceramic & Glass, Textile and Ädellab at Konstfack. This programme perceives norm creative crafts methods as relevant tools for questioning the current state of things. The student's projects and independent development lay the foundation for a joint exploration of what contemporary craft practices can entail. Students specialise in one of the three combined tracks. Design The Master's programme in Design is intended to strengthen your capacity to work experimentally and reflectively, and to both formulate and approach design challenges in critical and artistic ways. You will be trained, for instance, to make decisions based on aesthetic as well as personal, social, environmental and other socially relevant aspects, and you will gain experience of different approaches, methods and design areas. The specialisations Spatial Design and Individual Study Plan in Design offer you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and develop in the field of your choice. Fine Art The Master’s programme in Fine Art is centered around an individualized and interdisciplinary work process. The focus is on supporting each students’ self-reflection and development into their own artistic projects. Elective courses, tutorial groups, workshops and deep engagement from students and staff provide the education and atmosphere to strengthen and illuminate the creative process. Visual Communication The Master's programme in visual communication challenge and deepen your graphic design and/or illustration practice in relation to broader social, cultural and economic contexts. With a take-off point in norm criticality, we study how identity, norms and borders are formed through the landscape of visual communication and how artistic methods can be developed to expand your own practice as well as the field. Visual Culture and Learning–Visual Arts Education NoVA This Master's programme develops the conditions for conducting professional activities and further research studies in a critical, independent and creative way, and qualifies for educational leadership and development projects within the current field. Studying with NoVA offers the opportunity to study within an international Master’s degree programme with a strong Nordic profile and the possibility of studying at two universities in the Nordic countries. Collaborating with Konstfack are: Department of Art, Design and Drama at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Science (Norway); School of Art, Design and Architecture at Aalto University–School of Art and Design (Finland); Communication and Digital media, in Copenhagen; and Department for Communication and Psychology at Aalborg University (Denmark). Teaching builds on Nordic competences and expertise, and at the same time Nordic perspectives are related to current discussions in visual studies and on international art education. About Konstfack Konstfack is Sweden’s largest academy of art. Each year, about 1000 students participate in Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, teacher training, and professional courses in art, design, and the applied arts. Konstfack has a strong international character, recruiting professors and teachers and drawing students to its Master’s programmes from all over the world. The school hosts a steady stream of visiting lecturers from many different disciplines and countries. Konstfack is known for its generous studio spaces and excellently equipped workshops, where experts work in techniques both traditional and new. Konstfack also houses one of Sweden’s largest libraries for art and design.
